Pacientes con Hepatitis C tratados con interferon pegilado y ribavirina

Introducción: La hepatitis C es una enfermedad necroinflamatoria del hígado causada por el virus del mismo nombre; que progresa a la cronicidad en la mayoría de los casos originando secuelas irreversibles y en ocasiones mortales.
Objetivo: Caracterizar clínico y epidemiológicamente a los pacientes con diagnóstico de hepatitis C tratados con Interferón Pegilado y la Ribavirina.
Método: Se realizó una investigación cuasi experimental en pacientes con diagnóstico de Hepatitis Viral C, atendidos en la consulta de Hepatitis del Hospital Provincial “Saturnino Lora” en Santiago de Cuba, en el período comprendido desde el 1ro de septiembre de 2020 al 31 de noviembre de 2022. El universo de estudio lo conformaron 25 pacientes, no aplicándose ninguna técnica muestral.
Resultados: Existió un predominio de las edades intermedias de la vida (46-55 años) representando un 52 %, el género que mayor frecuencia presentó fue el femenino para un 58,3 %, operaciones y trasfusiones previas constituyeron las principales vías de trasmisión.
Conclusiones: No se evidenció diferencias significativas en relación con las características epidemiológicas y clínicas en los enfermos estudiados, con respecto a lo que reporta la literatura nacional e internacional, exceptuando la prevalencia del sexo femenino y que la evolución en la mayoría de los casos resultó favorable.
